Skoda India, the Czech origin and now a part of the German giant, Volkswagen, or the Skoda – Volkswagen India Group (Skoda – VW India) as it is known now introduced the updated, revamped and BS VI variant of all their product line-up recently via a Digital launch. They also introduced their Rapid sedan with a very loaded and affordable Rapid Rider variant which became a runaway hit and garnered bookings all-over India. Now they announce bookings for Skoda AT.
Now, in a new move, they announced the booking window for the much-awaited new RAPID AT against a refundable fee of ₹ 25,000 (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand Only), across all its authorized dealership facilities in the country and on the ŠKODA AUTO India website: https://www.buyskodaonline.co.in/. Having secured a priority status, hence pre-booked ŠKOD A RAPID AT will be delivered to customers from 18 September 2020.
At the heart of the new ŠKODA RAPID AT is an incredible new TSI mill. Displacing 999 cm3, the new three cylinder 1.0 TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) petrol engine that fosters an astounding 110 PS (81 kW) of power at 5000 – 5500 rpm and 175 Nm of torque at 1750 – 4000 rpm. The fuel efficiency too is exemplary. The new RAPID AT, with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission, offers 16.24 kmpl under standard test conditions.

When compared with the outgoing 1.6 MPI engine, the new ŠKODA RAPID AT offers a 5% upsurge in power and a 14% rise in torque output. At the same time, the new RAPID offers a 9% increase in fuel efficiency against the previous motor. The new RAPID AT is calibrated for refinement, efficiency as well as performance, and perfectly fits the urbane lifestyle of the ŠKODA AUTO customers.
Expect the Czech carmaker to introduce the Rapid auto at a premium of Rs 1-1.5 lakh over the manual version.
Now that the Skoda Rapid will soon get an automatic transmission, it will now have to face a tough competition with its segment rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, the Toyota Yaris, the Hyundai Verna, and the new Honda City, all of which are available with their own varieties of automatic transmissions.
