When Skoda introduced the Rapid TSI, it was well-received by the consumers due to the aggressive pricing. After that, Skoda India has introduced the automatic gearbox option in the form of Skoda Rapid AT. Skoda has offered the convenience of AT with all the variants of the Rapid. The Skoda Rapid Rider Plus AT starts at an introductory price of 9.49 lakhs and the top-of-the-line Monte Carlo AT is priced at 13.29 lakhs ex-showroom.
The gearbox on the new Rapid AT is an Aisin sourced 6-speed torque converter unit. Skoda has not changed anything in the new Rapid, other than the added gearbox. The engine on offer is a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI engine which churns out 110 PS and 175 Nm of peak torque. The prices of the Rapid AT are about 1.5 lakh higher than their manual counterparts, however, some variants have increase of 1.3 lakhs.
Skoda claims that the new AT unit calibrated for refinement, efficiency as well as performance making it suitable for urban usage.

The pricing of the Skoda Rapid AT
The Aisin-sourced 6-speed torque convertor unit is the same unit which is also used on the Polo AT as well as the Vento AT. It offers a claimed fuel economy of 16.24 km/l and Skoda claims that the new 1.0-litre TSI engine offers 5% more power, 14% more torque and 9% more fuel efficiency over the older 1.6-litre MPI unit.
