Maybach was founded in 1909 by Wilhelm Maybach, which was later acquired by Daimler Benz. Maybach was known as the brand that provided ultra-luxurious cars in 2002 and it used some components similar to the Mercedes-Benz cars. However, Maybach stopped being a standalone brand in 2013. Mercedes-Benz acquired Maybach and later on showed-off to the world what ultra-luxury actually means with the Mercedes-Maybach S600 and totally changed the definition of luxury in the limousine segment.

THE 2021 MERCEDES-MAYBACH S-CLASS

Mercedes-Benz introduced the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class very recently and it was completely redesigned inside-out and now Mercedes-Benz has taken the covers off the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, which simply is; Luxury Redefined.

The 2021 Maybach S-Class is 18 cm longer than the 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class which benefits the rear of the vehicle as the Maybach S-Class is known as a “chauffeur-driven” vehicle, but it doesn’t mean any compromises have been made on the driver’s end. The front portion of the car is very well suited and embedded with the most luxurious features on offer and cutting-edge technology to aid the driver and the occupants to cocoon from the outside world.

THE DESIGN

The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is a classic three-box saloon with a short front overhang, a really long wheelbase and a perfectly balanced rear overhang. The features that distinguish the new Maybach S-Class are the bonnet with a chrome fin, the Mercedes-Maybach radiator grille, Maybach embedded onto the chrome surround of the grille. The majestic three-pointed star stands proudly above the Maybach badging.

The distinctive front bumper and the air intake mesh is finished in chrome as well. The front features the new generation S-Class headlights with the distinguishing three torched DRL system and the rear features two-section rear lights of the new generation S-Class. The overall design of the new Maybach S-Class is adapted from the older generations of the S-Class which indicates the legacy of the the S-Class.

THE INTERIOR

When it comes to the interior of the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, the design of the front cockpit is inspired by the 1996 Mercedes-Benz S-Clas. The chariot-on-wheels is feature-loaded with a 12.3-inch OLED instrument cluster which is customizable and also gets a Maybach-specific instrument dial display, surrounded by rosé gold trims.

The center console is garnered by a highly advanced 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen display. The Maybach specific steering wheel is very luxuriously finished with piano wood and has Maybach engraved on it

The front dashboard is exquisitely styled with piano wood vertically aligned AC vents and the surrounding ambient lighting makes the dash very luxurious.

Is it coming to India?

The big question being, is it coming to India? Well, honestly we don’t know that yet!

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is yet to be launched in India and we expect it to be launched sometime early next year. So, taking that timeline into consideration, we expect that the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class might reach the Indian shores sometime mid-2021, of-course as a CBU. The W223 Maybach will surely be the choice of some multi-millionaires and some rumors say that it will be added to the “Jio Garage” as first in India.

The Maybach is just the start of new W223 platform, we expect the next-gen AMG S63, the S-Guard and the Pullman to follow next.
