It’s no news that the lines between petrol & diesel cars in India are blurring. Like really fast. Well, since the very major differences that earlier stemmed from the on-road prices of both, the mileage & cost prices of petrol & diesel are evidently equating to one another, you don’t really have solid reasons to NOT prefer petrol sedan cars over the diesel ones. Do you?
Here, I have listed the Top 7 Petrol compact Sedan cars of 2019 under Rs. 8 Lakhs, based on:
- Build Quality
- Comfort &,
7. Maruti Suzuki Dzire (7.92 Lakhs)
On the 7th place, is this elegant Maruti Suzuki Dzire with a suggested Variant VXI-AMT, which is currently one of the BEST SELLING compact sedan cars of India.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire comes with a 1.2-Litre, 4-Cylinder
petrol engine that makes 82 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The sedan boasts of an ARAI mileage of 22 km/L which is a huge PRO in itself. Apart from incredible fuel efficiency, the Maruti Suzuki service network is another winner deal here.
However, a CON is that owing to its best selling features, it’s highly unlikely to buy this car on a considerable discount. Another downside is that the build quality cannot claim the kind of robustness the other sedan cars in this league.
6. Volkswagon Ameo (7.27 Lakhs)
The next best choice among this list of petrol sedan cars is the Volkwagon Ameo. It’s quite likely that Volkswagon may discontinue the production of the Ameo model. However, this still is a great choice for you to buy any of the sedan cars in this price range (Under 8 Lakhs) for the following of its features.
A suggested variant to go with this model is the ComfortLine 1.0.
Ameo has a 1-Litre, 3-Cylinder petrol engine that makes 75 BHP & 95 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI mileage has been established as 19.4 Km/L.
Coming to the PRO’s, you have excellent down payment options over great interest rates, while purchasing the car with Volkswagon. We’d, therefore, suggest you check out your nearest Volkswagon showroom to assess the best purchasing plan for you based on your eligibility criteria.
A very likely CON is the small & underpowered engine in comparison with the other sedan cars under this segment.
5. HONDA Amaze (7.49 Lakhs)
The Honda Amaze is a fantastic choice among this segment of petrol sedans given its chic & elegant design. A recommended variant of Amaze would be S-MT (i-VTec), that has a 1.2L, 4-Cylinder petrol engine with 89 BHP & 110 Nm of peak torque.
Coming to the PRO’s, the Comfort quotient & engine refinements are a huge YES! The ARAI mileage for this car is 19.5 Km/L which is very decent.
While the CON’s could include the marginally underpowered engine as compared to the size of this petrol sedan car. Nevertheless, if this isn’t a major concern for you, Honda Amaze makes a great choice for this budget of yours. Another minor snag would be higher after-sales for this model.
4. Hyundai Xcent (7.27 Lakhs)
Our suggested variant S for Hyundai Xcent has a 1.2L, 4-Cylinder petrol engine with 82 BHP & 114 Nm of peak torque. With an ARAI mileage of 19.1 Km/L, Xcent steals the show with Hyundai’s customer satisfaction.
Possible drawbacks would be the visual similarity with the hatchback version.
3. Tata Tigor (7.80 Lakhs)
All brand new Tigor’s suggested variant XZA comes with a 1.2L, 3-Cylinder petrol engine with 84 BHP & 114 Nm of peak torque.
Hailing a great ARAI mileage of 21 Km/L, this model is available in the AMT/FE (Fuel Efficient)/ Sports & ECO Modes as well & that makes it a very ideal & interesting choice for a great buy.
A trivial CON would be its slightly overpriced features.
2. Toyota Etios (7.95 Lakhs)
This car is one of the perfect choices for compact sedan cars being powered by a 1.5L, 4-Cylinder petrol engine with 88 BHP & 132 Nm of peak torque.
Claiming an ARAI mileage of 16.78 Km/L, Etios is a brilliantly spacious car which makes it an ideal family sedan.
A feeble CON would be the lack of features the sedan has to offer when compared to the other sedan cars in this list.
Ford Aspire CNG (8.03 Lakhs)
Now before you flog me for including this car in the ‘Under 8 Lakhs’ list, let’s first head over to why, in fact, this sedan makes it to the #1 choice here.
A company-fitted CNG option for the Ford Aspire is what many of us have been waiting for since long. With a 1.2L, 3-Cylinder petrol engine with 95 BHP & 120 Nm of peak torque & an ARAI mileage of 20.40 Km/L (with petrol), this car is a beast of a performer. And no doubts about an amazingly impressive fuel efficiency & engine performance if you drive this sedan smoothly.
The best part is Ford’s offer of a 46 paise/Km after-sales maintenance cost up to 1,00,000 Km, which calls for a splendid warranty indeed.
Apart from a sequential CNG kit, Aspire CNG also has a great front suspension that ensures a super smooth ride.
NOTE – The car prices mentioned here are based on the Ex-Showroom Delhi pricing along with Insurance & Registration charges. However, there can be little to considerable variation in the prices shown in this post & the prices that the showroom dealers in your city offer.
