Anti-Lock Braking System
Explained in detail.
What is Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)?
An anti-lock braking system is a feedback control system that regulates brake pressure in response to measured wheel deceleration.
So it prevents the wheels from becoming completely locked.
Need for Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
Under hard / sudden braking, an braking system should provide the shortest stopping distances on (almost) all surfaces while maintaining vehicle stability and steer ability.
Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) are designed to maintain driver control and stability of the car during emergency braking.
Locked wheels will slow a car down but it won’t be stable and so as you can compromise steering ability. ABS will not only slow down the car but it also let the driver to steer with control and stability.
The stopping distances can be very depending on the surface like Snow, Sand, Mud, Rocks etc, But overall it will improve the braking performance and enhance the safety.
How Does Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) work?
ABS System is equipped with speed sensors on all wheels (In some vehicles Some wheels) which determines the ratio of wheel speed to vehicle speed.
And this process is continuously keeps on tracking the speeds and allowing the drivers to get the best possible road grip by ensuring that the wheels will not be locked.
This process is completed with the help of electronic solenoid valves which adjusts the hydraulic fluid pressure in each brakes.
In the video mentioned here, I have also shown some images and diagrams to make it completely easy to understand.
I hope this article will make your doubts clear and now you know the functioning and importance of ABS (Anti-lock braking system).
Reason Of making a Video about Anti-lock Braking System
As I have mentioned in the Video, My vision behind making this video and writing article about ABS is very simple.
I just want all my viewers and visitors and their friends and family members too to do not ( never ever) avoid the safety features in your car while buying it. let it be new or used ones..
There are many articles out there over the internet, and there are lot of people who want this information too.
And as per my experience different people need different explanation, some one understands very easily, and some one needs a thorough and deep guidance.
I have considered these aspects and made this video / article accordingly.
Never avoid safety features. And stay tuned for my next video/ Article. And if you missed the part-1, have a look, its all about Active and passive safety features.
